Koala is a word factory. ScoutRival is a marketing team.
Koala writes good articles, very cheaply, at enormous volume — from $9/mo — and publishes them to WordPress, Shopify, Webflow and Ghost. That’s broader than us, and if volume is the job, buy Koala. But it starts from a keyword you supply. It has no competitor monitoring — their own blog lists that as coming next — no AI-visibility tracking, no SEO audit, and no daily brief. ScoutRival decides what’s worth writing before it writes it.

The word factory
Koala will write a thousand articles. It won’t tell you which one matters.
Let’s give Koala its due first, because it earns it: at $9 a month it is astonishing value, it writes clean SEO articles, and it pushes them straight to WordPress, Shopify, Webflow or Ghost. On raw output per pound, nothing here comes close.
And it is entirely blind. It has no idea what your competitors published this week, whether ChatGPT recommends you, or whether your site is a D. Its own blog lists “competitor monitoring” under what’s coming next — which is an honest way of saying it isn’t here yet.
So it will happily write you fifty articles about the wrong thing. ScoutRival reads six of your rivals’ channels overnight and at 7am tells you what moved, what it means, and the three things to do before lunch — then writes those.

Watch the meter: premium models burn words at double rate.
Koala prices in words, not articles — and there’s a detail on their own pricing page worth reading twice. The word counts assume a small, cheap model. Choose a frontier model and that article counts double. So the $9 tier is really about 7,500 premium words: two decent articles.
ScoutRival writes 1,000–5,000 words in your brand voice, built from a gap it actually found — plus the social posts for every platform, which Koala doesn’t do at all. And on Pro you can bring your own AI key, at which point generation costs zero credits and the model choice is yours with no multiplier.

The engines, honestly
Koala publishes into a void.
You can push fifty articles to WordPress and have no idea whether any of it worked. Koala runs no SEO audit of your site, and tracks no AI-search visibility at all.
ScoutRival grades your site with 27 checks, A–F, with fix cards, and asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Gemini the questions your customers type — recording whether you were named. Both included from $29.

What Koala doesn’t do at any price.
Koala’s pricing is genuinely excellent and we won’t pretend otherwise — from $9/mo. The question isn’t what it costs. It’s what isn’t in the box.

Koala is a superb article machine. This page isn’t an argument that it’s bad — it’s an argument that an article machine isn’t a marketing team.

Before you decide
Which one of these is you?
Buy Koala AI
You have someone whose job this is.
There's a marketer or an SEO specialist on your payroll.
You need keyword research, backlink analysis and rank tracking — we don't have a keyword database at all.
Somebody has the hours to turn a report into a published article.
Their data is the best there is. If that's your situation, it's the better buy — and we'd rather you knew now than after the refund.
orBuy ScoutRival
Nobody there does marketing full-time.
You want to be told what to do today — not handed forty tabs of data.
You want the post and the article written, not recommended.
You want one bill, one login, and to be live in five minutes.
If all you need is articles, don’t — buy Koala, it’s excellent. But note what $9 actually buys: 15,000 words, halved to about 7,500 if you pick a premium model, because their word counter charges frontier models double. And Koala can’t tell you what to write about, whether ChatGPT recommends you, or whether your site has technical problems. Our $29 includes the competitor monitoring, the daily brief, the SEO audit, all four AI engines, and the social posts.
Does Koala monitor competitors?
Not yet. Their own blog, in April 2026, lists “Competitor Monitoring — ongoing tracking of your competitors’ content strategies” under what’s coming next. There’s an on-demand “Competitor Focus” mode inside their agent, but nothing that watches a named rival’s channels day after day. When they ship it, we’ll update this page and say so.
Can Koala publish to WordPress?
Yes — and to Shopify, Webflow and Ghost too, which is broader than us. We publish to WordPress only. We’re not going to run publishing as a win against Koala, because it isn’t one.
What’s the catch with their refund?
Not a catch exactly — just a condition worth knowing. Koala refunds within 15 days only if you’ve used under 15,000 words and 100 messages. Ours is 14 days with no usage condition at all: use the product properly, and if it isn’t for you, you still get your money back.
