What you'll unlock
An API key is a secret password that lets ScoutRival write through your own Anthropic account. Claude excels at long-form blogs and nuanced, on-brand writing.
Claude generates text only — no images. ScoutRival shows just a Text model for Anthropic. For thumbnails, connect OpenRouter, OpenAI, or Gemini alongside it.
Your own key makes text + blog generation unlimited — you pay Anthropic directly (cents per blog) and ScoutRival never caps it.
Get your Anthropic API key
Create a Console account
Go to console.anthropic.com and sign up (this is the developer console, not the Claude chat app).
Buy credits
Open Plans & Billing and buy credits. Anthropic is pre-paid — keys return a “credit balance too low” error until there's a balance.
Copy it now
Copy the key immediately — it's shown once. It starts with sk-ant-:

Connect it in ScoutRival
AI Models → Anthropic → Connect
In ScoutRival, open AI Models, find the Anthropic (Claude) card, and click Connect.
Paste the key
Paste your sk-ant-… key (no extra spaces). ScoutRival verifies it and shows ✓ Verified.
Pick a Claude model, then Save
Choose a default Text model and click Save. (No image option — that's expected for Claude.)
Claude now writes your unlimited text and blogs. Pair it with an image provider if you also want thumbnails.
Troubleshooting
401invalid key? Wrong or rotated key, or a stray space. Re-create thesk-ant-…key in Settings → API keys and paste it clean.400“credit balance is too low”? No prepaid credits. Buy credits in Plans & Billing.429rate/usage limit? New accounts start at a low tier. Slow down — limits rise as you spend.- “Where are the image options?” Claude is text-only by design. Connect another provider for images.
