Connect Google (Gemini).
Connect your own Google AI Studio key for unlimited text, blogs, and images — Gemini 3.5 for writing and Nano Banana for best-in-class images. You pay Google at cost; ScoutRival never meters it. About four minutes.
What you'll unlock
An API key is a secret password that lets ScoutRival generate content through your own Google account. Gemini gives you strong writing (Gemini 3.5) and excellent images (Nano Banana).
Your own key makes text, blog, and image generation unlimited — you pay Google directly (Gemini has a generous free tier) and ScoutRival never caps it.
Before you start: a Google account and ~4 minutes. A free key works to begin; link billing later for higher limits and images.
Get your Gemini API key
Create an API key
Open aistudio.google.com/apikey → Create API key. Pick or create a project when prompted.
(Optional) link billing
The free tier is enough to start. For higher limits and image generation, attach a Google Cloud billing account to the project.
Copy the key
Copy the key Google shows you:
AIzaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Connect it in ScoutRival
AI Models → Google (Gemini) → Connect
In ScoutRival, open AI Models, find the Google (Gemini) card, and click Connect.
Paste the key
Paste your AI Studio key (no extra spaces). ScoutRival verifies it and shows ✓ Verified.
Pick models, then Save
Choose a default Text model (Gemini 3.5) and an Image model (Nano Banana), then Save.
Gemini now powers your text, blogs, and images. Switch the default model any time from the same screen.
Troubleshooting
- “API key not valid”? Wrong key, or the Generative Language API isn't enabled on the project. Re-create the key in AI Studio and make sure the API is enabled.
- “User location is not supported”? The free tier isn't available in your country. Link a Google Cloud billing project, or use a different provider.
429quota exceeded? You hit the free-tier daily or per-minute limit. Wait, or attach billing for higher quota.- Image generation fails? Pick the Nano Banana (image) model in the Image slot; enable billing if your project requires it for images.
- Slow or timing out on long blogs? Gemini occasionally runs longer on big outputs — just retry. ScoutRival already extends the timeout for long-form.
