Account FAQ.
Deleting your account, changing your email, exporting everything you own — none of the three are self-serve today. All three are things we do for you if you ask. And cancelling deletes nothing.
The questions people arrive at Settings looking for, and the honest answers — including the three where the answer is "we do it for you, because there's no button yet".
The three that aren't self-serve
There is no self-serve account deletion, no email change and no one-click "export everything" in ScoutRival today. All three are support requests — and we honour all three. You are not being fobbed off; the button genuinely doesn't exist yet, and we'd rather tell you than let you hunt for it.
Contact support for any of them. Say which one you want and we'll do it.
Deleting your account
Email us and ask, from the address on the account. We'll confirm it's you, then delete your account and the data attached to it — your brands, your competitors, your briefs, your articles, your audits.
Two things to do first, because deletion is not reversible:
- Cancel your subscription under Billing, so nothing renews while you're waiting.
- Export anything you want to keep — see below. Once it's gone, it's gone.
If what you actually want is to stop paying rather than to disappear, you don't need this. Cancel instead: you keep everything, and you drop to Free.
Changing your email
The email field on your profile is locked, and there's no flow behind it anywhere else in the app. Ask support and we'll move the account to your new address by hand — one message, usually the same day.
Exporting your data
There's no "download everything" button. But almost everything you'd want out of ScoutRival, you can already take yourself, one artefact at a time, in whatever format you need — and it's free:
| What | Formats | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Any daily brief | HTML · Markdown · PDF | Brief Archive |
| Any article | HTML · Markdown · TXT · PDF | BlogCraft editor |
| Any SEO report | HTML · CSV · PDF | SEO & AI Visibility |
Exports are unlimited and cost nothing. The PDF route opens the document with your browser's own print dialogue — choose Save as PDF, and you get a clean, branded file.
If you want the lot in one go — a full account export for a migration or a compliance request — ask support and we'll put it together for you.
What happens if you cancel
Cancelling is not deleting. You keep access to your paid plan until the end of the period you've already paid for, and then you drop to Free — 50 credits a month, 1 brand, 1 competitor. Every brief, article, audit and brand you've made stays exactly where it is. Your work is yours.
What changes is capacity, not content: Free's limits are smaller, so a plan with three brands on it will have more than Free allows. Nothing is destroyed — resubscribe and it's all still there, right where you left it. More on Billing →
Locked out
If you turned on two-factor authentication and lost your authenticator app, you cannot get back in on your own — ScoutRival doesn't issue recovery codes yet. Contact support and we'll verify who you are and reset it.
Read the security page before you enable 2FA. There are two easy precautions there, and either one turns this from a support ticket into a non-event.
Refunds
Every paid plan carries a 14-day money-back guarantee. There's no refund button in the app — email support within 14 days of the charge and we'll refund you.
