Add ScoutRival to ChatGPT.
ChatGPT connects to ScoutRival by signing in — no token to paste. Add it as a connector and ask for your briefs, competitors and AI-visibility from chat.
ChatGPT connects to ScoutRival by signing in, not by pasting a token. You add ScoutRival as a custom connector, ChatGPT opens ScoutRival for you to authorise, and from then on you can ask for your brief, your competitors and your AI-visibility from inside the conversation.
ChatGPT's connector settings and where they appear change often, and vary by plan and roll-out. If the steps below look different in your account, the concept is the same: add a custom MCP server pointing at https://user.scoutrival.com/api/mcp and sign in when it asks.
Before you start
Custom MCP connectors are a feature of ChatGPT's paid plans. When they're available to you, you'll find them under Settings → Connectors — sometimes behind a developer or beta toggle you switch on first.
- The location may vary by plan, region and roll-out. If you don't see a Connectors section, or no option to add a custom one, your plan or region may not have it yet.
- You'll also need a ScoutRival account on Starter or up. MCP isn't included on Free plans — you'll see an upgrade prompt when you try to grant access.
Add the connector
Open Connectors in ChatGPT settings
Go to Settings → Connectors. If there's a toggle to enable developer or custom connectors, switch it on first.
Add a custom connector
Choose Add (or Create) a custom connector. Give it a name — ScoutRival — so you can find it later.
Paste the server URL
Enter the ScoutRival MCP server URL: https://user.scoutrival.com/api/mcp
Choose the sign-in option
Pick the OAuth or authentication option rather than a manual key. ChatGPT then opens ScoutRival so you can sign in.
Approve on the consent screen
ScoutRival shows a consent screen with the access level being granted. Review it and choose Allow. You're returned to ChatGPT with the connector ready.
The consent screen is where you decide how much the connector can do. Read-only reads everything and spends nothing; the higher levels add content generation, checks and competitors. See scopes and access levels for what each grants.
Use it in a chat
Start a chat and, if ChatGPT asks, turn on the ScoutRival connector or tool for that conversation. Then ask in plain language:
- "List my ScoutRival brands" — confirms the connection is live.
- "Today's brief for <brand>" — returns the verdict, rival moves and suggested posts.
- "How visible am I in AI answers?" — pulls your latest AI-visibility check and its highest-leverage fixes.
ChatGPT asks you before it runs an action. Reading your data is free; generating content and running checks spend credits, at the same price as in the app. You can ask for the cost before you run.
If tools don't show
If the ScoutRival tools don't appear, or look stale after you add prompts or connect an engine, ChatGPT has likely cached the tool list. Toggle the connector off and on, or start a new chat, so it re-reads the tools.
